If you’re playing Dark Souls on your PC, and are using stereo speakers, then you’re missing out on a ton of ambient sounds.
You see, the game renders sound in 5.1 surround, regardless of your settings (a side effect of it being a console port, as consoles automatically down-sample the music). So, you’ll only be hearing the left and right channels, missing out on all the surround sound.
There is a fix though, and it’s very simple. All you gotta do is set your sound card to down-sample from 5.1 to stereo, following these very simple instructions here.
Try it, and play Dark Souls as it should be, unless you have a surround system already :P
